Development, Advocacy, and Research Trust (DART) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that works all over India. The formal establishment of the Trust in 1998 was the culmination of a vision and purpose to support healthy behaviors among underprivileged, stigmatized, and socio-economically disadvantaged communities.
DART aims to highlight the human rights issues of underprivileged women and youth as this profile group of society found to be neglected and disregarded of their contributions and strengths. There is lack of involvement of youth and women in decision / policy making as well as lack of education / awareness regarding health, social and legal, democracy and Human right issues, while discriminatory laws and social customs against women hinders them to enhance their self growth and enjoy equal status in the society.
DART is the first organization in Delhi, in fact in north India, to have worked with the State Government of Delhi in implementing the first ever targeted intervention on HIV and AIDS prevention with men in the year 2000. Subsequently, the Delhi State AIDS Control Society collaborated with DART in the year 2002 to organize a consultative meeting with other National, International NGOs (Non-governmental Organizations), UN agencies and donors on policy development for developing strategies to effectively address.
In keeping with its philosophy of 'Real Work Real Change', DART Trust support the underserved, has taken its intervention into the interiors of India, reaching the unreached in the remotest of rural areas and urban slums with our services.
